This is a 91³ÉÈ˶¶ÒôÈë¿Ú internship opportunity created through a partnership between the Library and Information Technology Services (LITS) department and the Center for Career and Civic Engagement. LITS will hire selected students as interns to work on-campus at 91³ÉÈ˶¶ÒôÈë¿Ú and they will participate in all Beyond Bryn Mawr Summer Internship Program professional development.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 8, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET
Please apply by:
(1) submitting a one-page resume and cover letter through the LITS Digital Technology
2024 Summer Internships Handshake listing.
(2) completing the Center’s 2024 Summer Funding Application form.
Continuing Bryn Mawr students are invited to apply for several on-campus summer LITS Digital Technology Internships. These internships allow you to develop valuable digital competencies while assisting Bryn Mawr faculty and staff in developing and supporting college programs though project-based work. You will also have opportunities to network with professionals with experience across academic, education, library and information science, and digital technology-related fields.
This year’s project may involve helping the LITS and other departments improve the accessibility and discoverability of information on the College’s website, research on platforms for the development of open educational resources, WordPress hosting and database maintenance on the blogs.brynmawr.edu server, and/or the creation of instructional videos to support the community’s use of critical online services and resources. Interns will learn inclusive-design, project management, user-testing techniques, web-development and/or audio-visual production, then employ these skills to help advance academic and administrative initiatives on campus. Depending on staffing needs, LITS may hire interns for related work during the academic year.
Interns report to the Senior Educational Technology Specialist, Christine Boyland. You will be expected to work full-time on the 91³ÉÈ˶¶ÒôÈë¿Ú campus for 10 weeks (typically June 3 through Aug. 9, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. EDT) and will be paid biweekly at the college’s standard Level I student rate ($13.00/hour for AY23-24). You are responsible for finding and paying for your own housing. Digital Technology Interns are eligible for on-campus housing; see Conferences and Events’ website for information about on-campus summer housing options.
Qualifications
We are looking for individuals who are self-directed, motivated to learn new technologies, and can work effectively with others on a team to complete projects. We expect you to learn technical skills on the job, and we will provide time and resources for you to do this. Since digital technologies change rapidly, you may find professional staff are learning along with you!
In your cover letter, please tell us why you are interested in the internship and summarize evidence or give examples of your ability to learn new technologies and work effectively with others. You don’t have to limit yourself to evidence and examples related to prior work experience – skills and knowledge developed through coursework, volunteering, or extracurricular activities are equally valid. We’d also love to hear about any experience you have in areas related to management (project management, team leadership, stage management, etc.); accessibility, universal design for learning or working with individuals with disabilities; web design or content production (including blogging, social media marketing); audio-visual production; or design thinking.
