Internal Funding Opportunities

Faculty Awards and Grants

The Committee on Faculty Awards and Grants together with the Provost is responsible for administering the College's internal research funds. There are currently three funds that support faculty research. Learn more about the application process and guidelines.

Faculty Research Pool

The Faculty Research Pool is administered through the Office of Sponsored Research. These funds are intended to support modest research needs of continuing members of the Faculty. Requests for support may be made for minor expenses associated with the faculty member's research (e.g. typing, microfilming, illustrations, drafting, transcription, transportation, publication, equipment, etc.).

Reimbursement of these costs is up to a maximum of $700 per eligible faculty member per year. Faculty members holding endowed chairs are not eligible for the Research Pool Funds. Faculty Pool reimbursements can be submitted directly by the faculty member or by their academic administrative assistant to Billie Jo Ember in the Office of Sponsored Research .

Data Science Grant

The Data Science grant program is run in the spring. There are 3 types of grants:

1. Course development grants for those who would like to develop curriculum contributing to the Data Science minor;

2. Research grants for faculty who plan to conduct research in Data Science beginning this summer; and

3. Funds to assist faculty to attend conferences or workshops where they are not presenters but provide opportunities for them to expand their knowledge of data science.

Course development grants up to $3,000 will be awarded, and other submitted project budgets should not exceed $5,000. For more information, please follow this link to Data Science
